Michigan Alliance for Student Opportunity mourns the passing of Dr. Michael Boulus, a tireless advocate for public education throughout his career, without whose leadership we wouldn’t be where we are today.
Dr. Boulus was hired as the second Executive Director of Middle Cities Education Association (now Michigan Alliance for Student Opportunity) in 1985, after the retirement of founding Executive Director, Dr. Robert Muth. Among the many accomplishments during his tenure, Mike established the Middle Cities Risk Management Trust, the Middle Cities Workers’ Compensation Fund, and along with other statewide education associations, the Michigan Schools Energy Cooperative.
Dr. Boulus leaves behind a legacy as a statewide leader in K-12 education and a champion for Michigan’s underserved students.
Please keep his wife Marian and their family in your thoughts during this difficult time. Details are available for remembrance services.
